Whist the artist was on holiday he came across this market scene, and for him it immediatly stood out, simply because he saw the ladies dressed almost as he’d imagine biblical costumes and in complete contradiction and in extreme contrast, the 21 century plastic containers and polythene bags; and a chair that looked like it had stepped out of a Van Gough painting. I painted this for a very good friend.
